Learning Analytics is a sub-branch of big data. There is no universal definition but the Learning Analytics Community Exchange (LACE) define it as "the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs” (LACE, 2017).
